Soviet Cuisine: The Russian Salad

Esteemed Readers, step by step we pass to more substantial dishes. The famous Russian salad is one of them. A curious fact: in Russia it is called Olivier after the chef who invented it. Here is the classic Soviet recipe:

The Russian Salad Ingredients:

Potatoes – 4 medium pcs., carrot -1 pc., eggs – 4 pcs., any kind of dietary ham or salami – 300 gr., prickled cucumbers – 4 pcs., canned peas – 1 pack/200 gr., mayonnaise sauce – 2 -3 tbsp., salt, pepper, parsley sprouts for decoration.

Preparation:

Wash potatoes & the carrot. Boil the vegetables & eggs. Chop them. Chop ham/ salami. Erase excessive liquid from prickles, chop them as well. Place everything into a serving bowl. Drain the canned peas, add into the salad. Add mayonnaise sauce, salt, pepper. Decorate with parsley sprouts. Keep in the fridge for about an hour.
