Tom Jobim: Corcovado/Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars

“Corcovado/Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars” is a masterpiece out of time created by Tom Jobim in 1960. The song has had an enormous success & has become a jazz standard. Its English version, perhaps even more famous than the Brazilian original piece, was written by Gene Lees.

It is one of the most internationally performed compositions by Tom Jobim. It has been recorded by Gal Costa, Frank Sinatra, Astrud Gilberto, Doris Day, Henri Mancini, Andrea Boccelli & many others.

I present you, Esteemed Readers, a version performed by Tom Jobim himself with a special air of tenderness.

  1. Wonderful, Maria. What a great way to drift into the weekend. Thank you.

  2. Another favorite. This song was also used as the theme song for a Brazilian novella. I’ve forgotten the name.

  3. Melodia dolcissima!!

Belíssima! As canções de Tom são um verdadeiro presente a todos nós.
Se me permite uma sugestão, agregue Vinicius de Moraes. Acredito que vai adorar.

Brought back long time memories of my childhood, remember listening to this song all over the place on the early 60’s
    Thank you Maria. 🙂
