La Gazette in 2020: Historical News Today 1632

Esteemed Readers, the Thirty Years’ War continues. It is still 1632, February & here are some bright affairs happened at the background of shooting guns & canons:

Carignale, 1st February, 1632: ” The Duc of Savoye has ordered some machines, a ballet preparations & has sent his people to make stocks of food for a feast he is arranging for Marechal de Toiras & Sieur de Servient. The Governor of Milan has become terrified (with this news) prejudging that it should be a war enterprise where the Frenchmen & the Savoyards have augured who therefore will frighten with swords those who fear them so much at the table”.

Bruxelles, 13th February, 1632: “Here they continue violin concerts for Ladies. Last Sunday…the event took place at the shore of Hocstrate, today it has been for a young Princess de Chimay at the shore of Egmont. (At the event) the most beautiful Ladies of the Court have been gorgeously dressed not only because Monsieur should come to visit them”.

Metz (France), 15th February, 1632: “In the beginning of this month the King has paid attention to his health: purgation, bath & bloodletting made him a world of good. Then he returned back to work, which is his essential part: among other things there are numerous wonderful & ingenious inventions drawn from mechanics (he must study). Certainly, this is a great art made by great people & therefore they must give great results if they are used by good Masters…”
