Esteemed Readers, would you like to see the Soviet Moscow of the past? Would you like to return back to 1963? Would you like to learn a bit more about an ordinary life of Soviet people? Would you like to see our Soviet youth? This movie is for you!
“Walking the Streets of Moscow” is a pretty light musical movie perfect for the relaxing time we are having now. It has been made by one of our famous film-directors Georgy Danelija with a perfect actor team. In 1964 it has even been awarded at the Cannes Film Festival.
The story so far: The story is rather simple. A young write Volodya comes from Siberia to Moscow on business. On the way to his friends’ house, he meets with various people, faces different routine situations. The movie represents the first meeting of a young creative man with the Soviet capital, shows the city mood, its character & the way of life. The song Volodya sings “I’m strolling around Moscow” has become a music hit not only because it sounds as the hymn to this gorgeous city. It keeps the spirit of youth, hope & belief that the whole life is ahead & you will be able to achieve any goal you set.
The version with rather quality English subtitles is available on YouTube. I suppose that other translations are yet available at the Amazon Prime or in DVD.
Enjoy watching, Esteemed Readers! Happy strolling around Moscow!
