Soviet Movie Café: Walking the Streets of Moscow (1963)

Esteemed Readers, would you like to see the Soviet Moscow of the past? Would you like to return back to 1963? Would you like to learn a bit more about an ordinary life of Soviet people? Would you like to see our Soviet youth? This movie is for you!

“Walking the Streets of Moscow” is a pretty light musical movie perfect for the relaxing time we are having now. It has been made by one of our famous film-directors Georgy Danelija with a perfect actor team. In 1964 it has even been awarded at the Cannes Film Festival.

The story so far: The story is rather simple. A young write Volodya comes from Siberia to Moscow on business. On the way to his friends’ house, he meets with various people, faces different routine situations. The movie represents the first meeting of a young creative man with the Soviet capital, shows the city mood, its character & the way of life. The song Volodya sings “I’m strolling around Moscow” has become a music hit not only because it sounds as the hymn to this gorgeous city. It keeps the spirit of youth, hope & belief that the whole life is ahead & you will be able to achieve any goal you set.

The version with rather quality English subtitles is available on YouTube. I suppose that other translations are yet available at the Amazon Prime or in DVD.

Enjoy watching, Esteemed Readers! Happy strolling around Moscow!

Hi Maria, I watched a three-minute trailer of the movie on YouTube and then I watched three other videos of people in the streets – the first one titled A walk in the summer Moscow 2013. Moscow is a city with beautiful old buildings, neat & tidy and well maintained. Thank you for making me aware of these videos.

    Bonjour JEUNE FILLE

    A TOUS JOYEUSES PAQUES

    Bisous Bernard

Thank you Maria, a favorite quote from mine “Through hardship to the Stars” I will see if I can find it.
As for me, too old as the title of my last post “Vivamos Videre” to be swing, one way, or another by fake, and nonsense news we hear every day, actually do not watch the news, if I want information I go and investigate where they come from, and double check from other sources, specially opposite in views, then I make my own mind about them.
But the more things change, the more they remain the same, we still have to carry a lamp in daylight to look for an honest man, as Diogenes did in ancient Athens.

Best wishes ,to you as well Maria. 🙂

You can find the link with the English subtitles right in the post. So, you can pass to the film directly. Keep the spirit, dear Mr. Brigido! News is under Lilith yet. I share the Astrologists’ opinion that it will be over around March 2021.

Saturn stop retrograding into Capricorn on Sept 29th, and goes direct but doesn’t leave Capricorn until Dec 17th, if things may not be over, because the Sun, Venus, and Mercury will be transiting over Capricorn at the time, the whole period of Christmas, and New year, so by February things will start to ease up, and definitely by March God willing things may be better.

True, dear Mr. Brigido. The Conjunction with Pluto must be over. 🙂
